Mini submarine tour cozumel11/9/2023 ![]() ![]() ![]() The prices are $105 for adults and $65 for between 4 and 12, which we thought was pretty reasonable for the 3 hours. It’s hard to say anything negative about this excursion. ![]() Our route took us past a decommissioned battle ship where we saw divers as excited to see us as we were them. The crew points out interesting features as the sub cruises along. The submarine itself dives down to 100 feet below sea level and spends about 45 minutes submerged, maneuvering along the sea floor. It has 13 port windows on each side, and seats about 40 people. The submarine is quite large inside and doesn’t feel cramped or crowded. When you arrive, the sub breaches the surface and you’re invited to board through the access hatch. ![]() The crew ferry you out to the submarine, which is about 40 minutes from the Atlantis Submarine Tours office. Watching our kids peer out the port windows at the underwater life, floating past coral, fish and rays was like a mini-marine biology class. This was a totally unique excursion, and even though we have a number of dives under our belts, felt that this was exciting. Just minutes from the centre of Cozumel, and easily accessible by taxi, is the head office of Atlantis Submarine Tour Mexico. As soon as they are old enough to get their open water certification, we’ll sign them up – but in the meantime, while visiting Cozumel, Mexico, we couldn’t pass up the opportunity to take them down below the surface and do some deep sea exploring as part of a mini-submarine tour. $30 is ridiculous for some pictures. Our kids love snorkelling but are too young to go scuba diving. The girl gave us her email address so that if something happened to the CD, she could email us the pictures. The one NEGATIVE thing I have to say is that the CD they give you of pictures is super expensive. Our stuff was totally safe, and nothing happened to it, and I never once felt like my stuff was going to get stolen or anything like that. We had the option of putting our stuff into a locker, but we chose to be a little trustworthy and leave it with the guides (we brought our cash and cruise keys into the water with us, but I left my camera in the bag with the guides). Plus, you get to use the ocean / chairs at the hotel Cozumel before and after the tour, so that was a nice little bonus. Our guides were really funny and informative, and were very vigilant in ensuring everyone felt safe and comfortable on the sea floor. They also put some bread crumbs in your hand and a school of fish would come up and eat out of your hand. We didn't hold a puffer fish, but we did hold a sea spider and a small ray. I saw them pick the animals up out off of the ocean floor, so I'm not sure what those other people are talking about with having them pre-caught (or maybe it was all for show, I'm not sure). I felt like a villain from Scooby Doo! I liked being able to hold all of the animals. I've never done anything like this before, and it was really cool to see everyone in their little scuba suits. Although I would've liked the tour to have lasted a bit longer (we were only under the water for like 25 minutes), we definitely got our money's worth. I went with my boyfriend who was a little intimidated by the idea of scuba diving, so we figured this would be a good compromise. We booked this tour through an affiliate of Cruise One. ![]()
